Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? WorkSafeBC is seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide interventions to injured workers during their recovery and return to work. This role involves collaborating with clients, internal staff, and external stakeholders to identify and respond to risk situations, offering support to injured workers and their families during periods of distress, and working with community mental health resources. The position also includes delivering presentations on suicide risk identification and response to WorkSafeBC staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review WorkSafeBC suicide risk reports, assess, and prepare a Mental Health Service Plan
  • Support vulnerable workers and communicate appellate body claims decisions
  • Share expertise with internal colleagues and claims management staff
  • Communicate and uphold WorkSafeBC's mandate regarding suicide risk management
  • Build partnerships with clients at risk of suicide and their families
  • Deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response
  • Qualifications:

  • Understanding of current mental health issues and programs
  • Ability to resolve conflict, provide support, and communicate effectively with diverse individuals
  • Experience working as part of a team to guide clients with physical and mental health conditions
  • Background and Experience:

  • Master's degree in a related discipline or bachelor's degree in social work
  • Four years of related experience with a master's degree or six years with a bachelor's degree
  • Registration or eligibility to register with a professional college or regulatory body
  • Valid B.C. driver's license
  • Before employment, candidates must meet legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act and confirm eligibility to work in Canada.
