Description:

Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? WorkSafeBC is seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide interventions to injured workers during their recovery and return to work. In this role, you will collaborate with clients, internal staff, and external stakeholders to identify and respond to risk situations, offering support to workers and their families in times of psychological distress. Additionally, you will work with community mental health resources, provide support to claims management teams, and deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review WorkSafeBC suicide risk reports, assess risks, and prepare Mental Health Service Plans
  • Support and communicate appellate body claims decisions to vulnerable workers
  • Share expertise with colleagues to manage complex mental health issues effectively
  • Build partnerships with clients, families, and stakeholders to establish positive relationships
  • Deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response
  • Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate understanding of current mental health issues and programs related to depression, chronic pain, and suicidality
  • Facilitate understanding, resolve conflict, and provide support to clients
  • Present information clearly and concisely to individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Work as part of a team to guide clients with physical and mental health conditions
  • Background and Experience:

  • Master's degree in social sciences, social work, or related discipline
  • Four years of related experience with a master's degree, or six years with a bachelor's degree
  • Registration or eligibility to register with a professional college or regulatory body
  • Valid B.C. driver's license
  • Before employment, candidates must meet legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act and confirm eligibility to work in Canada.
