Description:

Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? WorkSafeBC is seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide interventions to injured workers in their recovery and return to work. In this role, you will collaborate with clients, internal staff, and external stakeholders to identify and respond to risk situations, offering support to injured workers and their families during periods of psychological distress. You will also work with community mental health resources and service providers, serving as a resource to claims management teams across the province.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review WorkSafeBC suicide risk reports, investigate, assess, and prepare a Mental Health Service Plan
  • Support vulnerable workers and communicate appellate body claims decisions
  • Share expertise with colleagues and claims management staff
  • Communicate WorkSafeBC's mandate regarding suicide risk management
  • Build partnerships with at-risk clients and their families, internal staff, and stakeholders
  • Deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response
  • Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate understanding of current mental health issues and programs
  • Facilitate understanding, resolve conflict, and provide support to clients
  • Prepare and present information to diverse audiences
  • Work collaboratively in a team setting
  • Your background and experience should include a master's degree in a related field, four years of related experience with a master's degree, or six years of related experience with a bachelor's degree. Registration or eligibility to register with a professional college or regulatory body is required, along with a valid B.C. driver's license. Before employment, you must meet legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act and confirm eligibility to work in Canada.
