Description:

Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? WorkSafeBC is seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide interventions to injured workers during their recovery and return to work. In this role, you will collaborate with clients, internal staff, and external stakeholders to identify and address risk situations, offering support to workers and their families in times of distress. Additionally, you will work with community mental health resources, provide guidance to claims management teams, and deliver presentations on suicide risk identification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review WorkSafeBC suicide risk reports, investigate, assess, and prepare Mental Health Service Plans
  • Communicate appellate body claims decisions to vulnerable workers and traumatized clients
  • Share expertise with colleagues to manage complex mental health issues
  • Build partnerships with clients, families, and stakeholders to establish positive relationships
  • Deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response
  • Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate understanding of mental health issues related to depression, chronic pain, and suicidality
  • Facilitate understanding, resolve conflict, and provide support to clients
  • Prepare and present information clearly to individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Work collaboratively in a team to guide clients towards treatment goals
  • Your background and experience:

  • Master's degree in social sciences, social work, psychology, or related field
  • Four years of related experience with a master's degree or six years with a bachelor's degree
  • Registration or eligibility to register with a professional college or regulatory body
  • Valid B.C. driver's license
  • Before employment, you must meet legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act and confirm eligibility to work in Canada.
