Description:

Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? WorkSafeBC is seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide interventions for injured workers during their recovery and return to work. In this role, you will collaborate with clients, internal staff, and external stakeholders to identify and respond to risk situations. Your responsibilities will include providing support to injured workers and their families, collaborating with community mental health resources, and serving as a resource to claims management teams throughout the province.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review WorkSafeBC suicide risk reports, investigate, assess, and prepare a Mental Health Service Plan
  • Support vulnerable workers and communicate appellate body claims decisions
  • Share experience with colleagues to manage mental health issues effectively
  • Build partnerships and networks with clients and stakeholders
  • Deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response
  • Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate understanding of mental health issues and programs related to depression, chronic pain, and suicidality
  • Facilitate understanding, resolve conflict, and provide support to clients
  • Prepare and present information to individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Work as part of a team to guide clients with physical and mental health conditions
  • Your background and experience:

  • Master's degree in social sciences, social work, or related discipline
  • Four years of directly related experience with a master's degree, or six years with a bachelor's degree
  • Registration or eligibility to register with a professional college or regulatory body
  • Valid B.C. driver's license
  • Before employment, you must meet legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act and confirm eligibility to work in Canada.
