Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? WorkSafeBC is seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide interventions to injured workers during their recovery and return to work. In this role, you will collaborate with clients, internal staff, and external stakeholders to identify and respond to risk situations, offer support to injured workers and their families, and work with community mental health resources. This position involves a hybrid work model, combining remote work and office-based tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review WorkSafeBC suicide risk reports, assess risks, and prepare Mental Health Service Plans
  • Communicate appellate body claims decisions to vulnerable workers
  • Share expertise with colleagues to manage mental health issues effectively
  • Build partnerships with clients and stakeholders to establish relationships
  • Deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response
  • Qualifications:

  • Understand current mental health issues and programs related to depression, chronic pain, and suicidality
  • Facilitate understanding, resolve conflict, and provide critical incident support to clients
  • Prepare and present information clearly to individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Work collaboratively in a team to guide clients with physical and mental health conditions
  • Background and Experience:

  • Master's degree in social sciences, social work, or related field
  • Four years of related experience with a master's degree or six years with a bachelor's degree
  • Registration or eligibility to register with a professional college or regulatory body
  • Valid B.C. driver's license
  • Before employment, candidates must meet legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act and confirm eligibility to work in Canada.
