Description:

Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? WorkSafeBC is seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide interventions to injured workers during their recovery and return to work. In this role, you will collaborate with clients in distress, internal staff, and external stakeholders to identify and respond to risk situations. Your responsibilities will include offering support to injured workers and their families during periods of psychological distress, working with community mental health resources, and serving as a resource to claims management teams throughout the province.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review WorkSafeBC suicide risk reports, investigate, assess, and prepare a Mental Health Service Plan
  • Communicate appellate body claims decisions to vulnerable workers
  • Share experience with internal colleagues to manage mental health issues effectively
  • Build partnerships with clients at risk of suicide and their families
  • Deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response to WorkSafeBC staff
  • Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate understanding of current mental health issues and programs related to depression, chronic pain, and suicidality
  • Facilitate understanding, resolve conflict, and provide critical incident support to clients
  • Work as part of a team to guide and motivate clients with physical and mental health conditions
  • Requirements include a master's degree in a related discipline, experience in mental health and crisis intervention, registration with a professional college or regulatory body, and a valid B.C. driver's license. Before employment, candidates must meet legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act and confirm eligibility to work in Canada.
