Description:

Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? We are seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide interventions to injured workers during their recovery and return to work. In this role, you will collaborate with WorkSafeBC clients, internal staff, and external stakeholders to identify and address risk situations. Your responsibilities will include supporting injured workers and their families during periods of psychological distress, working with community mental health resources, and serving as a resource to claims management teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review WorkSafeBC suicide risk reports, investigate, assess, and prepare a Mental Health Service Plan
  • Support vulnerable workers and communicate appellate body claims decisions
  • Share expertise with colleagues to manage mental health issues effectively
  • Communicate WorkSafeBC's mandate regarding suicide risk management
  • Build partnerships with clients, families, and stakeholders
  • Deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response
  • Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate understanding of mental health issues and programs
  • Facilitate understanding, resolve conflict, and provide support to clients
  • Prepare and present information in clear and concise language
  • Work collaboratively in a team setting
  • Your background and experience:

  • Master's degree in a related discipline or Bachelor's degree in social work
  • Four years of related experience with a master's degree or six years with a bachelor's degree
  • Registration or eligibility to register with a professional college or regulatory body
  • Valid B.C. driver's license
  • Before employment, you must meet legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act and confirm eligibility to work in Canada.
