Description:

Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? A Mental Health Specialist position is available to provide interventions to injured workers in their recovery and return to work. You will collaborate with WorkSafeBC clients, internal staff, and external stakeholders to identify and respond to risk situations. Your role will involve providing support to injured workers and their families during periods of psychological distress, working with community mental health resources, and serving as a resource to claims management teams throughout the province.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review WorkSafeBC suicide risk reports, investigate, assess, and prepare a Mental Health Service Plan
  • Support and communicate appellate body claims decisions to vulnerable workers
  • Share experience with colleagues to manage mental health issues effectively
  • Communicate WorkSafeBC's mandate to manage suicide risk in a supportive manner
  • Build partnerships with clients at risk of suicide and their families
  • Deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response
  • Qualifications:

  • Understanding of mental health issues related to depression, chronic pain, and suicidality
  • Ability to facilitate understanding, resolve conflict, and provide support to clients
  • Experience in preparing and presenting information to diverse audiences
  • Ability to work as part of a team focusing on guiding clients with health conditions
  • Your background should include a master's degree in a related field, experience in mental health and crisis intervention, registration with a professional college or regulatory body, and a valid B.C. driver's license. Before employment, you must meet legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act and confirm your eligibility to work in Canada.
