Description:

Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? We are seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide interventions to injured workers in their recovery and return to work. You will collaborate with WorkSafeBC clients, internal staff, and external stakeholders to identify and respond to risk situations. Your role will involve supporting injured workers and their families during periods of psychological distress, working with community mental health resources, and serving as a resource to claims management teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review WorkSafeBC suicide risk reports, assess, and prepare a Mental Health Service Plan
  • Support vulnerable workers and communicate appellate body claims decisions
  • Share expertise with colleagues to manage mental health issues effectively
  • Communicate WorkSafeBC's mandate regarding suicide risk management
  • Build partnerships with clients at risk and deliver presentations on suicide risk
  • Qualifications:

  • Understanding of mental health issues related to depression, chronic pain, and suicidality
  • Ability to resolve conflicts, provide critical incident support, and communicate effectively
  • Experience in consulting and motivating clients with physical and mental health conditions
  • Your background and experience:

  • Master's degree in social sciences, social work, or related field
  • 4 years of related experience with a master's degree or 6 years with a bachelor's degree
  • Registration or eligibility with a professional college or regulatory body
  • Valid B.C. driver's license
  • Before employment, you must meet legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act and confirm eligibility to work in Canada.
