Description:

Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? WorkSafeBC is seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide interventions to injured workers during their recovery and return to work. In this role, you will collaborate with clients, internal staff, and external stakeholders to identify and respond to risk situations. Your responsibilities will include providing support to injured workers and their families, working with community mental health resources, and serving as a resource to claims management teams throughout the province.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review WorkSafeBC suicide risk reports, investigate, assess, and prepare a Mental Health Service Plan
  • Support vulnerable workers and communicate appellate body claims decisions
  • Share expertise with colleagues and claims management staff
  • Communicate and uphold WorkSafeBC's mandate regarding suicide risk management
  • Build partnerships with clients, families, staff, and stakeholders
  • Deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response
  • Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate understanding of current mental health issues and programs
  • Facilitate understanding, resolve conflict, and provide support to clients
  • Prepare and present information using clear and concise language
  • Work effectively as part of a team to achieve treatment goals
  • Your background and experience should include a master's degree in a related discipline, four years of related experience with a master's degree or six years with a bachelor's degree, registration or eligibility to register with a professional college, and a valid B.C. driver's license.

    Before employment, you must meet legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act and confirm your eligibility to work in Canada.
