Description:

Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? WorkSafeBC is seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide interventions to injured workers during their recovery and return to work. This temporary 18-month assignment involves collaborating with clients, internal staff, and external stakeholders to identify and address risk situations, as well as offering support to injured workers and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review suicide risk reports, assess, and develop Mental Health Service Plans
  • Communicate appellate body claims decisions to vulnerable workers
  • Share expertise with colleagues to manage mental health issues effectively
  • Build partnerships with clients, families, and stakeholders to manage suicide risk
  • Deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response
  • Qualifications:

  • Understanding of mental health issues and programs related to depression, chronic pain, and suicidality
  • Ability to communicate controversial information clearly and sensitively
  • Experience working in a team to guide clients with physical and mental health conditions
  • Your background and experience should include a master's degree in a related field, four years of relevant experience with a master's degree or six years with a bachelor's degree, registration or eligibility with a professional college or regulatory body, and a valid B.C. driver's license.

    Before employment, you must meet legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act and confirm eligibility to work in Canada.
