Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? WorkSafeBC is seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide interventions to injured workers during their recovery and return to work. In this role, you will collaborate with clients, internal staff, and external stakeholders to identify and respond to risk situations, offering support to workers and their families in times of distress. This temporary 18-month assignment presents an opportunity to gain valuable experience within our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive and review WorkSafeBC suicide risk reports, assess and prepare Mental Health Service Plans
Support vulnerable workers and communicate appellate body claims decisions
Share expertise with colleagues and claims management staff to manage mental health issues effectively
Build partnerships with clients, families, and stakeholders to establish positive relationships
Deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response
Demonstrate understanding of mental health issues related to depression, chronic pain, and suicidality
Facilitate understanding, resolve conflict, and provide support to clients with sensitivity
Prepare and present information to diverse audiences effectively
Work collaboratively with a team to guide clients towards treatment goals
Possess a master's degree in a related discipline or a bachelor's degree in social work
Four years of directly related experience with a master's degree or six years with a bachelor's degree
Registration or eligibility to register with a professional college or regulatory body
Hold a valid B.C. driver's license
Meet legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act
Confirm eligibility to work in Canada
