Description:

Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? We are seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide interventions to injured workers during their recovery and return to work. This temporary 18-month role involves collaborating with clients, internal staff, and external stakeholders to identify and address risk situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review suicide risk reports, assess, and create a Mental Health Service Plan
  • Support vulnerable workers, including those at risk for suicide, and communicate claims decisions
  • Share expertise with colleagues and claims management staff on managing mental health issues
  • Communicate WorkSafeBC's suicide risk management mandate to stakeholders
  • Build partnerships with at-risk clients, families, and stakeholders
  • Deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response
  • Qualifications:

  • Understanding of mental health issues related to depression, chronic pain, and suicidality
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and resolve conflicts
  • Experience in crisis intervention and mental health support
  • Master's degree in social sciences or related field, with relevant experience
  • Registration or eligibility with a professional regulatory body
  • Valid B.C. driver's license
  • Before employment, candidates must meet legal requirements and confirm eligibility to work in Canada.
