Job Details:

Wage range: $44.03 to $56.50 per hour + an additional $9/hour CASA Classrooms premium

Vacation: 4.18 hours, accrued bi-weekly

Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day

About the Role:

You will be part of a team working within community schools, delivering mental health services through CASA Mental Health Classrooms. This program aims to bridge mental health and school needs for students by providing a coordinated approach from a mental health team and a teacher.

The Mental Health Therapist will:

Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and develop treatment plans

Provide therapeutic interventions and support patients in achieving goals

Facilitate transition meetings and complete discharge summaries

Be an active member of an interprofessional clinical team

Follow organizational policies and facilitate support groups

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to practice culturally-safe therapeutic interventions

Excellent assessment, treatment, and communication skills

Advanced skills with MS Office products

Qualifications and Experience:

Master's degree in psychology, social work, occupational therapy, or nursing

Minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health

Member in good standing with relevant professional college

Training and experience in cognitive behavioural therapy and family interventions

Experience working with families and Children and Family Services

Conditions of Employment:

Criminal Records Check and Child Intervention Check

Maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention certification

Working Conditions:

Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle

About the Role   
You will be a part of a team that works within community schools, right where children live and learn. CASA Mental Health Classrooms are CASA's model for schoolbased mental health service. The program addresses the need for services closer to students by bridging a child's mental health and school needs, through a coordinated approach by a mental health team and a teacher. CASA Mental Health Classrooms are delivered in partnership with the Government of Alberta, community partners and school divisions.

The Mental Health Therapist will:

Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments of assigned children and youth, and develop individualized and family treatment plans in conjunction with the primary team,.
 Develop treatment plans and formulate diagnoses, when applicable, using the DSM5TR or other diagnostic tools as appropriate.
 Provide therapeutic interventions to support patients in achieving therapeutic goals using a variety of developmentallyappropriate treatment approaches.
 Arrange and facilitate transition meetings with community schools prior to patient's discharge from program.
 Complete written discharge summaries to referring Therapist and Psychiatrist to support continuity of care for patients and families.
 Be an active, contributing member of an interprofessional clinical team whose purpose is assessment, treatment, case review and consultation.
 Follow organizational policy and practice regarding admission, discharge and maintenance of health records.
 Facilitate or cofacilitate Parent Support Groups and MultiFamily Therapy Groups. There groups are psychoeducational and/or psychodynamic in context, and use a variety of evidencebased therapeutic modalities (DBT, CBT, motivational interviewing, etc.).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated ability to practice culturallysafe therapeutic interventions.
 Excellent assessment, treatment and case management skills.
 Excellent organizational, interpersonal, critical thinking and communication skills.
 Ability to work autonomously and independently, and to prioritize work activities.
 Demonstrated analytic and problemsolving ability.
 Ability to work and to communicate in a cooperative and respective manner with all staff.
 Advanced skills with MS Office products, including application to formal writing.

Qualifications and Experience

Master's degree in psychology, social work (with psychosocial intervention designation), occupational therapy or nursing.
 A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
 Member in good standing with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT), Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) or College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
 Knowledge of and experience in cognitive behavioural therapy, family interventions and crisis intervention. Training and experience in dialectical behaviour therapy is an asset.
 Training and clinical experience working with families and Children and Family Services is an asset.

Conditions of Employment

A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
 A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
 Must maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) and be physically able to perform all interventions.
