City of Toronto is seeking individuals to join the Forestry, Urban Forestry division as Natural Resource Workers. This is a permanent, full-time position with an hourly rate of $34.53. The job involves working 40 hours per week, including weekends and events at various locations in Toronto.
Major Responsibilities
Participating in the design, preparation, planting, monitoring, and maintenance of natural area plantings and landscapes on City-owned lands.
Monitoring natural areas and plantings, implementing effective Plant Health Care management, and performing inventories of plant material.
Operating various motor vehicles and mechanized forestry maintenance equipment.
Responding to general natural resource questions from the public and participating in community stewardship events.
Directing other staff or volunteers as needed.
Completing work reports and maintaining accurate records.
Key Qualifications
Diploma or certificate in Ecology, Forestry, Ecosystem Management, or related discipline.
Experience in native/non-native plant identification, vegetation inventory, and forest management activities.
Possession of a valid Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and Ontario Pesticide License.
Basic experience with Microsoft Office and office equipment.
You Must Also Have
Knowledge in the establishment and maintenance of native plant communities common to Toronto.
Familiarity with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations.
Physical capability to perform duties in all weather conditions and work with chemical pesticides.
