The Seniors' Mental Health Program at the Complex Continuing Care (Cedar Lodge) department offers specialized mental health services for seniors in northeast Ontario. The program focuses on assessment, intervention, and support to help seniors with age-related mental health disorders stay in the community and avoid psychiatric hospitalization. Services are available to individuals over 65 years old, as well as those under 65 with age-related mental health issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent required

Personal Support Worker Certificate, HealthCare Aide Certificate, or completion of minimum second semester in a nursing program required

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) certificate required

Dementia care, pharmacotherapy, falls/mobility, osteoporosis, delirium training required

De-escalation techniques required

GPA certification an asset

U-First certification an asset

Skills/Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required

Ability to work collaboratively in a health team with minimal supervision

Physical ability to provide care to medical patients required

Commitment to continuing education and safety

Basic computer skills required

Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) required

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge:

Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent required
 Personal Support Worker Certificate, HealthCare Aide Certificate or completion of minimum second (2nd) semester in a recognized nursing program required
 Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) certificate required (within the last twelve months)
 Dementia care, pharmacotherapy, falls/mobility, osteoporosis, delirium training required
 Deescalation techniques required
 GPA certification an asset
 UFirst certification an asset
