Join the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority team at WRHA Community Health Services - Point Douglas Home Care as a Public Health Nurse. The role of the PHN is to promote, protect, and preserve the health of populations by applying public health science and nursing theory. PHNs work collaboratively within the Population Public Health team, supporting integration across WRHA and Family Services and Consumer Affairs. PHNs provide services in communities, across communities, and across the region.

Applicants should have two years of recent, relevant experience in public health, primary care, population-level health promotion, or community development. A Baccalaureate Nursing degree is required, along with additional preferred certifications such as the Public Health Agency of Canada's Skills Enhancement for Public Health Program content module certificate.

Qualifications and skills required for this position include the ability to work independently and within a professional team, demonstrated competency in conflict management, problem-solving, teaching, counseling, and organization of activities and workload. Excellent interpersonal skills, proficiency in computer software applications, and the ability to facilitate groups are also necessary.

Physically, candidates should be capable of carrying out clinical skills, pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying equipment weighing up to 50lbs. Access to a reliable motor vehicle during working hours and immunizations and tuberculin testing as per WRHA Policy are also required.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
