Description:
The City of Toronto is seeking a Nurse Manager for Carefree Lodge Long-Term Care Home in North York. This full-time, temporary position involves providing nursing leadership to ensure high-quality resident care. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in Nursing, certification in Nursing Administration, or equivalent management experience. The successful applicant must be a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and have considerable experience in motivating and supervising staff in a Long-Term Care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement detailed plans and recommend policies tailored to program requirements
Supervise daily operations, including staff scheduling and task assignments
Address personnel issues and approve vacation and overtime requests
Manage budgets and foster inter-professional collaboration for high-quality care
Ensure nursing staff maintain competency and follow evidence-based practices
Oversee medication storage and administration, and lead clinical inspections
Develop care plans, participate in care rounds, and lead debriefings for complex cases
Oversee staffing schedules, investigate critical incidents, and resolve complaints
Monitor quality of care, manage budgets, and provide strategic advice on resource management
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor's in Nursing and certification in Nursing Administration or equivalent management experience
Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Considerable experience in motivating, leading, and managing staff in Long-Term Care
Knowledge of Long-Term Care legislation and Resident Assessment Instrument - Minimum Data Set
Skilled in building relationships with stakeholders and driving positive clinical outcomes
Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict management skills
Ability to promote teamwork and excellence in a customer service-focused environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer applications
