Description:

Alberta Children's Hospital is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the Hospital Complex Care Program (H-CCP) to provide collaborative family-centered care to Children with Medical Complexity (CMC). The NP will work within an interdisciplinary team to assess, diagnose, and provide care planning to patients, working to the full scope of practice. The role includes autonomous decision-making and collaboration with Hospital Pediatricians. The NP will play a central role in bridging care from hospital to the community for CMC.

The Nurse Practitioner will work alongside other members of the CCP to provide comprehensive, holistic care to patients and families. Strong interpersonal skills are required to build trusting relationships with staff, management, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team. The NP will also contribute through advanced clinical practice, leadership, consultations, referrals, education, and research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan
  • Assess, diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures
  • Utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership, Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research
  • Promote appropriate use of health services and influence healthcare systems
  • Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program with a minimum of a Master's degree
  • Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • Experience working in pediatrics and knowledge of Epic/Connect Care EMR
  • Demonstrated commitment to Patient & Family Centered Care and Alberta Health Services Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Goals
  • Preferred qualifications include previous experience working with Children with Medical Complexity, inpatient and ambulatory settings, Microsoft Office Suite knowledge, Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider (PALS), and experience with evidence-based practice and program development
