This job posting offers an exciting opportunity to join a crucial initiative integrating Nurse Practitioners (NPs) into the busy tertiary emergency department at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. The successful candidate will provide evidence-based clinical care, show leadership qualities, and work well within a team. The RAH ED is a bustling department in Western Canada, serving a diverse population with complex needs. We are seeking NPs with strong clinical judgment and adaptability to changing priorities, particularly in emergencies and acute care settings. The ideal candidate will be resilient, forward-thinking, and possess strong leadership and collaboration skills.

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will deliver comprehensive health services across all age groups. Responsibilities include assessing, diagnosing, ordering and interpreting tests, prescribing treatments, and performing procedures to meet patient health needs. Utilizing advanced nursing competencies, you will enhance care quality, promote appropriate healthcare service use, and influence healthcare systems. This position is unionized and represented by the Alberta Union of Nurse Practitioners (AUNP).

  • Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree
  • Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • Evidence to practice independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Family All Ages licensure
  • Emergency Nurse Practitioner Certification (ENP) or equivalent
  • Emergency Medicine Education and skills development courses
  • Emergency NP experience
  • Internal Medicine NP experience
  • Experience with addictions medicine
  • Practices trauma-informed, patient-centered care approach
  • Current ACLS and PALS certification
  • Familiarity with Connect Care is beneficial
