University Health Network (UHN) is seeking two individuals to join the Allied Health acute inpatient and emergency department at Toronto Western Hospital. The successful candidates will provide assessment and treatment to patients in acute care settings, working with multidisciplinary teams and participating in clinical education.

The ideal candidates will have a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy, current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario, and previous experience in an acute care hospital environment. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to work with a diverse patient population.

Responsibilities:

Provide assessment and treatment to acute care emergency and in-patients

Support the development of best practice models of occupational therapy

Work with multidisciplinary teams and participate in clinical education

Contribute to Allied Health meetings and quality initiatives

Provide assessment and treatment across various hospital departments

Qualifications:

Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent

Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario

Previous experience in an acute care hospital environment preferred

Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills

Experience in assessment and treatment of various patient populations

Computer literacy

Provides assessment and treatment of acute care emergency and inpatients at the Toronto Western Hospital
 Provides evidencebased and patient centered practice to patients seen
 Supports the development and implementation of best practice models of occupational therapy in the acute care setting at TWH
 Works with multidisciplinary teams
 Participates in the clinical education of occupational therapy students
 Participate in Allied Health meetings and quality initiatives
 In cooperation with other members of the occupational therapy inpatient team, provides assessment and treatment for patients across the hospital as required, areas of coverage may include:

Emergency Department, Neurovascular, Neurology, Neurosurgery, General Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Orthopedics, General Surgery, Geriatrics, and ICU

Qualifications

Masters of Science degree in Occupational Therapy, or equivalent
 Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)
 Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists' membership, preferred
 Previous experience in an acute care Hospital environment, preferred
 Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) certification, preferred
 Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
 Must be physically capable of performing the daily activities associated with patient care and occupational therapy treatment
 Experience in assessment and treatment of general internal medicine patients, Ortho/Msk patients, and patients with Neurological deficits
 Demonstrated appropriate and effective written, oral, and nonverbal communication skills
 Computer literacy
