As a member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team, the Occupational Therapist coordinates, assesses, and provides care to patients with neurological conditions, focusing primarily on those living with spinal cord injuries/conditions. The Therapist collaborates effectively with the team and community agencies to deliver care, including assessments, treatment interventions, program planning, discharge planning, and community liaison.
Qualifications:
Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
Graduate of an approved School of Occupational Therapy
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in managing rehabilitation patients, including Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, and Acquired Brain Injury
Self-directed, flexible, independent practitioner with effective collaboration skills
Experience in seating/positioning for adults
Leadership ability, strong communication skills, critical thinking, and patient-centered care approach
Experience working collaboratively with support personnel
Knowledge in evidence-based occupational therapy care
Effective communication with various stakeholder groups
Knowledge of patient safety procedures
Ability to perform physical techniques using proper body mechanics
Interest in supporting student educational opportunities and professional development
ADP Authorizer status preferred for wheelchair, positioning, and ambulation aids
