The Alberta Children's Hospital (ACH) is seeking an Occupational Therapist I to join their team. The role involves providing family/client-centered care to subacute populations with complex medical profiles across various areas within the hospital. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, exhibit strong clinical reasoning skills, and demonstrate effective communication. Participation on program/clinic committees is expected, and candidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide evidence-informed services focusing on occupational performance to meet the needs of individuals, groups, or communities. You will engage clients to enable meaningful occupations, support functional abilities and independence, and collaborate with stakeholders within the client's environments. You will also include clients and families as integral members of the healthcare team and participate in interprofessional teams to enhance services for clients.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program.
  • Registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
  • Recent (within the last two years) clinical experience in a pediatric physical medicine/rehabilitation setting.
  • Experience within the past year of tertiary level neurorehab rehabilitation service delivery for 0-18years old.
  • Recent (within the last year) experience in tertiary level complex feeding, of pediatric patients, ages 0-5years old.
  • Clinical knowledge in acquired developmental disorders, neurodegenerative diagnoses, and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Knowledge and experience in rehabilitative service, transition support, sensory processing, fine motor, and supporting independence with ADLs and IADLs.
  • BCLS-HCP certification.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent (within the last year) experience in splinting pediatric patients and custom splint fabrication.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) general authorizer status.
  • Knowledge of and clinical experience with Assistive Technology and Power Mobility.
  • Experience in functional electrical stimulation.
  • Experience in constraint-induced movement therapy.
  • Experience in scar management.
