Description:

As an Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for assessment, intervention, and consultation for older adult inpatient clients in the Older Adult Programs. You will work as part of interdisciplinary teams to provide rehabilitation services and education to clients, families, students, and other providers. Additionally, you will provide equipment recommendations for safe discharge into the community and participate in planning and operations within programs and the Occupational Therapy Service.

As an Occupational Therapist (OT), your role will involve providing evidence-informed services focused on occupational performance to meet the needs of individuals, groups, or communities. You will act as a direct service provider, consultant, educator, or advocate, and collaborate with health care teams. Your responsibilities will include engaging individuals and communities in meaningful occupations, supporting clients to achieve functional abilities and independence, and providing comprehensive services such as assessment, treatment, education, and collaboration with stakeholders.

You will work with clients and families as integral team members, participate in interprofessional teams, contribute to quality improvement, and provide supervision to Therapy Assistants and Therapy Aides. The position is classified as Occupational Therapist I and requires a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy, registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists, and experience working with diverse age groups and medical conditions.

  • Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists
  • Experience working with diverse age groups and medical conditions
  • Effective teaching, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in cognitive assessments and management of complex conditions
  • Physical capability for patient care duties
  • Computer literacy and adaptability within OT services
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Memberships with CAOT and SAOT
  • AADL authorizer training
  • Experience with Connect Care and FIM scoring
  • Knowledge of driving/return to driving procedures
  • Experience with upper extremity assessment and treatment planning
