Located just a few minutes north of Edmonton, the Sturgeon Community Hospital is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join their team. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, and be able to work independently. As an OT, you will provide evidence-informed services focusing on occupational performance for individuals, groups, or communities. You will engage clients to enable meaningful occupations, support them in achieving functional abilities, and collaborate with various stakeholders to advance services.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide a range of services including triage, assessment, treatment, education, case management, and collaboration with stakeholders. You will work with clients and families to determine rehabilitation goals and participate in interprofessional teams to enhance support and quality improvement. Additionally, you may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants and Aides.

Qualifications:

Completion of a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program

Registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT)

Completion of a master's degree in Occupational Therapy or relevant experience

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification

Effective time management and prioritization skills

Conflict resolution and strong communication skills

Minimum of 1 year acute care experience within the last 5 years

Experience with upper extremity splinting and dysphagia assessments preferred

Knowledge of community resources and discharge planning

Experience working in the ICU and Emergency Department is an asset

The occupational therapy department works collaboratively with all clinical teams: Medical/Surgical Units, Emergency and ICU/CCU. Description:  
As an Occupational Therapist (OT), you will provide evidenceinformed services, with a focus on occupational performance designed to meet the needs of individuals, groups, or a community. You may act as a direct service provider, consultant, educator, or advocate and function as an integral health care team member. You will engage individuals, groups, and communities to enable meaningful and chosen occupations, including selfcare, productivity and leisure. You will support clients to achieve optimum functional abilities and independence related to their cognitive, affective, spiritual, and physical strengths and limitations. As an OT, you will provide comprehensive services, including triage, screening, consultation, assessment, diagnosis, collaborative goal setting, treatment, prevention, selfmanagement, education, case management, referral, transition support, and collaboration with relevant and chosen stakeholders and supports within the client¿s physical, institutional, cultural, and social environments. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. Required Qualifications:

A minimum of 1 year acute care experience working as an Occupational Therapist in the last 5 years required. New graduates with relevant clinical experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:  
Experience with upper extremity splinting, dysphagia and swallowing assessments, Connect Care, AADL authorizer qualifications. Experienced in the assessment/treatment of patients within the geriatric population, experience in the assessment/treatment of patients with acute/chronic musculoskeletal injuries, knowledge of community resources; equipment acquisition; continuum of care and discharge planning and experience working in the ICU and Emergency Department is an asset.
