Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join their Allied Health department. The successful candidate will provide evidence-informed services focusing on occupational performance for individuals, groups, or communities. This physically demanding role requires repetitive lifting and transferring of patients and equipment.

Key responsibilities include engaging clients to enable meaningful occupations, supporting clients to achieve functional abilities and independence, and collaborating with clients and families in determining rehabilitation goals. The OT will participate in interprofessional teams, contribute to quality improvement, and provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants and Therapy Aides.

Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy

Experience providing Occupational Therapy interventions in an acute hospital setting

BLS for Health Care Providers Level C CPR certification

Ability to physically manage repetitive lifting and transferring of patients and equipment

Preferred qualifications include experience with wheelchair seating and positioning, cognitive and perceptual testing, and Decision Making Capacity assessment and recommendations. Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) is an Acute Care hospital with over 1,100 beds. It is the Trauma Centre for Southern Alberta, Eastern British Columbia and Western Saskatchewan. FMC has a Neuro Tertiary Unit as well as the majority of InPatient Neurological services in Calgary. The present caseload for this position is in Medicine with the potential for coverage on any unit/service as required. Description:

As an Occupational Therapist (OT), you will provide evidenceinformed services, with a focus on occupational performance designed to meet the needs of individuals, groups, or a community. You may act as a direct service provider, consultant, educator, or advocate and function as an integral health care team member. You will engage individuals, groups, and communities to enable meaningful and chosen occupations, including selfcare, productivity and leisure. You will support clients to achieve optimum functional abilities and independence related to their cognitive, affective, spiritual, and physical strengths and limitations. As an OT, you will provide comprehensive services, including triage, screening, consultation, assessment, diagnosis, collaborative goal setting, treatment, prevention, selfmanagement, education, case management, referral, transition support, and collaboration with relevant and chosen stakeholders and supports within the client¿s physical, institutional, cultural, and social environments. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. You will collaborate with clients and families in determining, implementing, and evaluating rehabilitation. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich support and engage in quality improvement by partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families, and other stakeholders to advance services for the clients. Required Qualifications:

BLS for Health Care Providers Level C CPR certification issued within the last 12 months prior to commencement of employment. Ability to physically manage repetitive lifting, and transferring of patients and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:
