VON Canada is currently hiring candidates for a Personal Support Worker position. The PSW provides personal support and homemaking services to clients and families, ensuring their needs are met for optimal independence and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Observes and evaluates client and family situations to determine care plan changes
Contributes to the development of care plans under the direction of the Program Manager
Implements changes to care plans for safety and financial reasons
Reports changes in client needs to supervisors
Performs personal support tasks and provides personal care as directed
Provides respite and child care as needed
Organizes daily activities and completes necessary documentation
Assesses client communication and ability to relate
Functions in compliance with health and safety regulations
Other duties as assigned

Works collaboratively with other staff
Education, Designations and Experience:
High school diploma
CCA Certification required in Nova Scotia
Certificate in Home Support Worker, PSW program, or Health Care Aide
First Aid and CPR certification
Post-secondary degree or diploma an asset
Household management and experience with elderly or ill individuals
Skill Requirements:

Good assessment skills
Awareness of community resources
Ability to work in a team or independently
Adherence to confidentiality

Available to work flexible hours
Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment
