VON Canada is seeking a Personal Support Worker (PSW) for positions in Tilbury and Merlin, Ontario. This permanent, part-time role involves providing personal support and homemaking services to clients and families according to VON policies and procedures. The PSW will collaborate with the health care team to promote client independence and well-being. Foreign Registered Nurses awaiting CNO registration and PSW students are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
Observes and evaluates client and family needs, advising supervisors of any necessary care plan changes.
Contributes to the development of care plans under the direction of the Personal Support Program Manager.
Implements changes to care plans for safety and financial reasons.
Reports changes in client needs to supervisors.
Provides personal support tasks, including light cleaning, meal preparation, and household safety maintenance.
Assists clients with personal care tasks.
Provides respite care and child care as needed.
Organizes daily activities and completes necessary documentation.
Assesses client communication and ability to relate.
Communicates with the health team regarding client needs.
Functions in compliance with health and safety regulations and VON policies.
Performs other assigned duties.

Abides by VON policies and confidentiality practices.
Collaborates with staff in service delivery.
Education, Designations and Experience:
High school diploma.
CCA Certification in Nova Scotia.
Certificate in Home Support Worker or related program.
First Aid or CPR certification.
Post-secondary education is an asset.
Previous experience in household management or caregiving.
Skill Requirements:
Strong communication skills.
Good assessment skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team or independently.
Adherence to confidentiality.
Other:
Must have a personal vehicle, driver's license, and insurance.
Criminal Records Check required.
Available for flexible hours and PPE use.
