St. Teresa Place is seeking a Recreation Therapist for a permanent full-time position. The Recreation Therapist will be responsible for leading the recreation department, collaborating with the healthcare team, and supporting recreation and leisure programming for residents.

Current membership and registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association

Ability to maintain good working relations and flexibility

Ability to speak French an asset

Vaccination against COVID-19 and other required communicable diseases

Position Summary:

The Recreation Therapist will have overall responsibility for the recreation department. Working under the direction of the Site Leader, the successful incumbent will be responsible for leading and guiding the staff and for defining and maintaining the infrastructure necessary to support recreation programming for the residents. Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to support recreation &amp; leisure programming for the residents.

This position will:

Model the organizations mission, vision, and values, consistently representing Covenant professionally and positively
 Collaborate effectively as a professional team player, supporting the achievement of Covenant's Mission, Vision, and Values

Qualifications:

Degree/diploma in Therapeutic Recreation is required (A specialty or major in gerontology is preferred)
 Current membership and registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA)
 Minimum one (1)  two (2) years of Therapeutic Recreation experience
 Minimum one (1)  two (2) years of supervisory experience required
 Candidate must possess a valid Class 4 driver's license (travel involving transporting residents required)
 Ability to maintain good working relations with staff, public and outside agencies
 Flexibility with changes in the organization and maintain a positive outlook
 Ability to speak French an asset
 This position requires you to be vaccinated against COVID19 and all other required communicable diseases under Covenant Care's OHS policy

Covenant Care offers a very competitive compensation and benefits package.

All employees new to Covenant Care must provide a criminal record check not older than 6 months ahead of your commencement date. Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Person Screening processing is taking much longer than typical (3 to 4 weeks) and that commencing the process in advance is advisable. Not having your CRC will delay your ability to commence employment.
