Humber River Health is seeking a part-time Recreational Therapist to join their Senior's Care team at the Reactivation Care Centers. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating individualized and group therapeutic recreational programs, supporting the development of social skills, and collaborating with health professionals. This position requires working rotating shifts, including weekends and some holidays.
Responsibilities:
Developing, designing, implementing, and evaluating individualized and group therapeutic recreational/leisure/life skills programs and special events.
Supporting the development of functional social skills for patients at the ALC Reactivation Care Centers.
Providing consultation services with Health professionals when requested.
Recording patient assessment, progress, and discharge status.
Providing supervision and support to a group volunteer assisting in-patients with social activities.
Developing linkages with community agencies for patient support post-discharge.
Qualifications:
Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation & Leisure Studies with a Therapeutic Recreation focus.
Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) with NCTRC.
Minimum of 1-2 years of direct experience working with Inpatients.
Experience with ALC patient population preferred.
Knowledge of community services in the Toronto area.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership and initiative.
Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Ability to respond to crisis situations.
Availability to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
