The town of Peace River is located in the beautiful Peace River valley and serves as the cultural and economic hub of the Peace Region in northwestern Alberta. With a population of approximately 6000 and a surrounding catchment of 10,000, the town offers excellent education and a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational activities such as golfing, hockey, camping, skiing, and swimming. Join our team in a dynamic rural emergency department where you will collaborate closely with physicians and a multidisciplinary team to provide care for patients, adhering to AHS values. Previous experience in an ER department is preferred, and you will be responsible for caring for patients from CTAS 1-5. This ER department serves as a stroke, cardiac, and trauma center for the area. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS offers a Remote Retention Allowance up to an annual maximum of $3000.00, which is non-pensionable and paid on an hourly basis for all hours at the basic rate of pay. Temporary accommodations and relocation may be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations
  • Utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making
  • Teach, counsel, and advocate for patients and their families
  • Support an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance
  • Deliver safe, quality patient and family-centered care reflecting AHS values

    • Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
  • Completion of free courses if not practiced as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within the past five years

    • Preferred Qualifications:

  • OBS, NRP, ACLS certifications
  • Med/surg experience and medication administration skills
  • Organizational and critical thinking abilities
  • Ability to work independently
