Description:

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Systemic Therapy and Community Oncology, the Registered Nurse will provide patient-centered nursing care for systemic treatment oncology patients and their families. The Chemotherapy Nurse will utilize expert knowledge of Systemic Therapy to administer cytotoxic agents and participate in the enforcement of national standards for safe administration. Additionally, the nurse will serve as a facilitator for Clinical Trials and a resource for Outreach Community Clinics.

Qualifications:

  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
  • Recent nursing experience administering chemotherapy and immunotherapy
  • Certification with CON(C)
  • Successful completion of the deSouza Standardized Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course or equivalent
  • Clinical experience in the care of Central Venous Access Devices (CVADs)
  • Competent peripheral IV insertion skills
  • Current BCLS certification
  • Ability to work independently
  • Skills in patient assessment, teaching, counseling, leadership, organization, critical thinking, and communication
  • BScN an asset
