Description:

Unit 2 at the Alberta Children's Hospital is a 26-bed combined medical/surgical unit with a high-intensity and fast-paced environment. The patient population consists of primarily under 2 years of age with complex medical conditions related to cardiac, respiratory, and infant GI surgery. Patients often require advanced technology support, including tracheostomies, ventilators, and various monitoring devices. Working on this unit requires excellent skills in physical assessment, critical thinking, communication, and time management.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide nursing services to patients, families, and communities, ensuring their safety and well-being. You will utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, and problem-solving to deliver quality patient-centered care. Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour until obtaining a full license.

• Required Qualifications:
• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
• Minimum 6 months of acute pediatric care experience within the past 3 years.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
• Proficient in care with CVADs, enteral feeding, and parental nutrition.

• Preferred Qualifications:
• Baccalaureate degree in nursing.
• Minimum 2 years of acute child health nursing in the last 5 years.
• Charge RN orientation and experience preferred.
• Active PALS/PEARS Certification.
• Engagement with quality improvement initiatives.
• Experience with pediatric cardiology, respirology, and infant/pediatric GI surgery.
