We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and motivated Registered Nurse to join our team at the Forzani & MacPhail Colon Cancer Screening Centre (CCSC). The nurse will provide safe, effective nursing care, assist with scoping procedures, administer sedation, and educate patients. As a Registered Nurse, you will utilize critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to ensure patient safety and well-being. You will play a leadership role in patient care, health promotion, and maintenance, reflecting the values of AHS.

Key Responsibilities:

Assisting the physician with scoping procedures

Administering procedural sedation

Providing pre and post-procedure care for patients undergoing colonoscopy

Leading group and individual patient education classes

Conducting screening medical histories and assessments

Other duties as required

Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program

Active or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification

Recent ICU or Emergency experience preferred

Certification in IV therapy required

Ability to function independently and within a team

Excellent communication, organization, and decision-making skills

Professional manner with a focus on positive patient experience

Physical ability to meet the demands of the position

Preferred: ACLS certification and current job experience at CCSC

The nurse will have an indepth knowledge and expertise related to CCSC workflow and the patient population. A minimum current experience of 35 years working at CCSC is preferred. Duties include assisting the physician with scoping procedures, administering procedural sedation, providing both pre and post procedure care for patients undergoing colonoscopy, leading both group and individual patient education classes, conducting individual screening medical histories and assessments, and other duties as required.Description: As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and wellbeing. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58  $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Additional Required Qualifications:Recent ICU or Emergency experience preferred within the last 35 years. Recent acute medical/surgical experience within the last 35 years. Certification in IV therapy required. Recent demonstrated experience (at least 3 years within the last 5 years) in administering and caring for patients receiving IV conscious sedation required. Ability to function independently and within a team in a fastpaced environment required. Excellent communication, organization and decisionmaking skills required. Demonstrated ability to interact within a multidisciplinary team. Professional manner with a focus on ensuring a very positive patient experience required. This position requires lifting, bending, walking and standing for long periods of time. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position. Must be able to push/pull patients on stretchers and carry up to 20lbs for short distances. Required to do group patient teaching and 1:1 patient teaching; group patient education experience an asset. Preferred Qualifications:Active ACLS certification preferred. Current job experience at CCSC preferred. Current experience with Lumens preferred.
