Halton Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide care to surgical day patients, PACU patients, and those in the Pre-Admission Clinic. The successful candidate will apply the nursing process in a professional, multi-disciplinary team setting.

Qualifications:

Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario

Current BLS certification

ACLS Certification

ICU or PACU certificate

Recent Surgical Day Care nursing experience

Two years of PACU nursing experience

Critical Care Nursing course or PACU course

Coronary Care 1 and 2 preferred

Experience with various medical procedures and equipment

Strong patient assessment skills

Excellent decision-making and critical thinking skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Caring attitude towards patients, families, and colleagues

Satisfactory employment and attendance record

Additional Information:

Hours: Various rotating shifts, including days and evenings

Salary: $40.24 to $57.68 per hour

Job Description

Apply all aspects of the nursing process to the care of the surgical day patient in a professional and multidisciplinary team. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing care to patients in the PACU, Surgical Day Care and PreAdmission Clinic.

Qualifications

Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
 Current Heart &amp; Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
 ACLS Certification required at time of hire and ongoing
 ICU certificate and/ or PACU certificate required.
 Recent Surgical Day Care nursing experience required.
 Two years of PACU nursing experience required.
 Critical Care Nursing course and/or PACU course required.
 Coronary Care 1 and 2 preferred
 Experience with administering IV drugs below the drip chambers, central lines, Epidural/ PCA pump, ECG machines, invasive pressure monitoring required.
 Experience with phlebotomy, paracentesis, and other ambulatory care procedures.
 Ability to interpret advanced arrhythmias
 Strong patient assessment skills essential
 Must possess excellent decision making &amp; critical thinking skills
 Flexible, good team player with positive attitude.
 Ability to function in a fastpaced environment.
 Caring attitude with patients, families and coworkers.
 Satisfactory employment and attendance record required.

Additional Information

Hours: Monday to Sunday  Various rotating shifts Days and Evenings  7.5 hour shifts. On call PACU shifts scheduled (hours subject to change based on operational requirements)
