If you are an experienced Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse who enjoys small town living, this position in Drayton Valley may be perfect for you. As a Charge Nurse responsible for 50 Continuing Care residents, you will focus on delivering excellent patient and family-centered care, especially for elderly clients with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias. Ideal candidates will have recent gerontology nursing experience, charge nurse, and leadership training. Drayton Valley, located in the Central Zone, offers a population of over 7,000 and various amenities like a library, movie theatre, bowling alley, camping areas, golf courses, and an indoor swimming pool. The Omniplex provides multiple recreation facilities under one roof, surrounded by outdoor activities. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide range of nursing services, ensuring patient safety and well-being, utilizing critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You will also play a leadership role in patient care, health promotion, and maintenance while reflecting the values of AHS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations
  • Utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making
  • Teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families
  • Support an integrated and holistic approach to patient care and health promotion
  • Provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care
  • Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
  • Ability to integrate Patient and Family Centered Care principles into practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills
  • Competence in relevant technical nursing skills
  • Willingness to learn new skills as required
  • Ability to work shift work and meet the physical demands of the job
  • Preferred qualifications include I.V. initiation and maintenance care experience and RAI 2.0 Connect Care Training
