Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is an integral member of the Pediatric Medicine team at the Stollery Children's Hospital, providing high-quality, family-centred care within the Pediatric Complex Care and Seasonal Capacity Program. This role involves working collaboratively with various healthcare professionals to deliver safe, evidence-informed care to children with complex medical needs. The RN contributes to a culture of safety, continuous learning, and patient- and family-centred care.

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide nursing services to patients and families, utilizing critical thinking and decision-making skills. You will play a leadership role in supporting holistic patient care and health promotion. This position offers an opportunity to develop pediatric complex care knowledge and skills while working with an interdisciplinary team to improve the care experience for children with medical complexity and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations
  • Utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making
  • Teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families
  • Support an integrated and holistic approach to patient care and health promotion
  • Reflect the shared vision and values of AHS in providing safe, quality patient and family-centred care
  • Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
  • Minimum of two years of recent pediatric nursing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to provide safe, compassionate care to children with complex healthcare needs
  • Strong pediatric assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to patient- and family-centred care, continuous learning, and professional development
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic clinical environment
  • Experience caring for children with medical complexity is preferred
  • Recent experience within the Pediatric Complex Care Program is considered an asset
