The Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Cancer Patient Navigator (HPCPN) is a specialized Registered Nurse (RN) position within UAH/ZLC GI Clinic in the EPIC Program. The HPCPN role supports patients and their loved ones through their health care journey with empathy and care. The focus is on Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic cancer patients from diagnosis through treatment to survivorship or palliation.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations
Utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, and decision making
Teach, counsel, and advocate for patients and families
Support an integrated and holistic approach to patient care
Reflect the shared vision and values of AHS
Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program
Active or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
Minimum of three to five years of specialized knowledge in GI, oncology, and/or endoscopy
Recent experience with patient navigation
Completion of CCA-AHS Cancer Patient Navigation
Nursing Oncology Certificate required
Excellent communication skills
Ability to prioritize, multitask, and maintain databases
Knowledge of research and computer applications
Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate in challenging situations
Preferred Qualifications:
GI/Endoscopy Certificate preferred
Recent navigation experience
Advanced therapies skill and knowledge of PDMP patients preferred
