Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in this position will be responsible for assessing, triaging, teaching, and providing follow-up care for pediatric patients and their families in the Stollery Pediatric Home Nutrition Support Program (PHNSP). The RN will offer direct patient care, develop care plans, assist with clinical procedures, provide education, and empower patients and families to manage their nutritional needs. Additionally, the RN will offer ongoing support through telephone triage, interpretation of lab results, and communication with care providers, physicians, and families. This role involves acting as a resource for health care personnel in Northern Alberta Health Regions, liaising with Home Care and Community teams, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide a wide range of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, ensuring their safety and well-being. You will utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, and decision-making skills to provide patient-centered care and health promotion. The role requires leadership in supporting an integrated approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance, reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification

• Graduate of a recognized professional nursing program and Baccalaureate degree
• Proof of active registration with CRNA and BCL-HCP provider
• Minimum of 2 years' recent Pediatric Ambulatory experience
• 3 years of recent experience in Pediatric Acute Care or Pediatric Critical care
• Knowledge and experience in the use and management of various enteral feeding tubes and devices
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced ambulatory department within a family-centered care model
• Effective teaching, organizational, critical thinking, problem-solving, and program planning skills
• Telephone assessment and triage experience
• Experience with Connect Care, Netcare, and up-to-date computer skills
• Successful completion of the Stollery Medication Administration exam with 90% or more
• Ability to lift/push/pull 50 lbs. or more and stand for long periods of time

Preferred Qualifications:

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
