The UAH Medicine Relief Team at the University of Alberta Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide relief staff to 13 Medicine units. The RN will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while participating in discharge planning and providing leadership to LPNs and HCAs. This position involves working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team and going to all medicine units as required.

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations. You will utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, and decision-making to ensure patient safety and well-being. Additionally, you will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care and health promotion.

Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour, with adjustments upon obtaining a full practice permit. The position is classified as a Registered Nurse (2022.75) under the United Nurses of Alberta union at the U of A Hospital. The role is regular part-time with a shift pattern of days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program

Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification

Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to work to full scope of practice on all medicine units

Experience working within an acute care practice setting within the last year

Basic computer and email skills required

Interpersonal, organizational, and assessment skills

Ability to adapt quickly to changing workloads and conditions

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a casual or float position

Experience within the CoACT framework

Charge Nurse experience

IV Certification
