Description:
The role of an occupational health nurse is quite diverse. It involves patient care as well as extensive administrative responsibilities. The position interprets client needs, assesses requirements, and identifies solutions to nonstandard issues and requests. The nurse counsels and educates clients on health and wellness in the workplace and provides input into policy and process development. The position works to ensure Health Shared Services values, goals, and principles are implemented and integrated in the delivery of services to client groups. Responsibilities include providing clinical support, advice, direction, and input into the needs of fellow staff and managers in relation to health promotion, safety, hygiene, and disease/injury prevention programs. The nurse also acts as a healthcare provider for various staff and representatives, ensuring the confidentiality of health information. Other responsibilities include assisting in the implementation of program and policy strategies, promoting WHS programs and priorities, and delivering programs and services to meet staff needs. The nurse will also conduct various health assessments, monitoring, and follow-up procedures, as well as measure and monitor outcomes of WHS programs and initiatives.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, ensuring their safety and well-being. You will utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, as well as teach, counsel, and advocate for patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. The role involves providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour, with adjustments upon obtaining a full practice permit.
