As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, ensuring their safety and well-being. Utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, you will also teach, counsel, and advocate for patients and their families. Your role will involve supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance, while providing safe, quality, patient, and family-centered care in alignment with the organization's vision and values.

  • Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
  • Eligibility for Graduate Nurses, Graduate Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Nurses, and Registered Psychiatric Nurses who have graduated within 12 months prior to the program start date
  • Candidates selected for an interview must review the UNA Letter of Understanding #29 - Graduate Nurse Transition Pilot Program prior to the interview

  • Additional Required Qualifications:

  • Successfully pass the Stollery PEARS course (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization Course) during orientation
  • Successfully pass the Stollery Medication Administration exam (pass 90%)
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated initiative, accountability, problem-solving, organizational skills, and effective time management
  • Strong decision-making, assessment, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to adapt and work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment with competing responsibilities
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with children with tracheostomies and medically fragile patient populations
