St. Thomas, Ontario (Elgin Zone) is seeking a Relief Addiction and Mental Health Worker for Withdrawal Management and Crisis Services. The position involves providing psychological support to individuals in crisis, supporting those experiencing substance withdrawal in the community, and linking individuals to community services. The role requires open availability for various shifts, with a minimum commitment of three shifts per month. Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last six months.
The starting rate for the role is $27.14 per hour, with potential wage differentials based on regulation and professional college registration. The position offers casual shifts on days, afternoons, evenings, nights, and weekends, with immediate eligibility for optional enrollment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP).
The responsibilities of the role include providing client-centered care, engaging in community development, maintaining relationships with service providers, and facilitating service navigation for clients. Other duties include providing mental health assessments, counseling support, education, referrals, and managing administrative tasks. The role also involves participation in team meetings, adherence to policies, and supporting the agency's growth.
Qualifications include post-secondary education in a related field, a driver's license, and demonstrated regular attendance at work. Preferred qualifications include work experience in mental health and addiction, knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation, and clinical experience in substance abuse assessment and treatment. Bilingualism in English and French is preferred.
