The CCI is a worldclass freestanding cancer treatment centre with a long history of excellence in clinical care, treatment innovation, and fundamental research. The successful applicant will join a large and broadly skilled clinical and academic team that supports activities in external beam radiation therapy, brachytherapy, nuclear medicine, as well as diagnostic and MR imaging. The Institute has eight stateofthe art Varian linear accelerators, two Philips Big Bore CTsimulators, an Elekta ICON Gamma Knife, an orthovoltage superficial unit, HDR brachytherapy system, an active permanent seed implant brachytherapy program, and an ocular brachytherapy program. The CCI is also embarking on clinical trials and continued research with its inhouse and first of its kind LinacMR. The CCI Medical Physics Department boasts involvement in numerous cooperative groups, pharma and investigatorinitiated clinical trials, and has capabilities in SRS, brachytherapy, and motion management. It has three CAMPEPaccredited programs: University of Alberta Medical Physics Graduate Teaching Program offering an MSc degree in Medical Physics and a PhD degree in Medical Physics, Radiation Oncology Physics Residency Program, and Imaging Physics Residency Program. The Medical Physics Department has a research 9.4T animal MRI, a 0.2T linacMR prototype, and a full scale (humansized) 0.5 linacMR system. The fully equipped medical physics machine shop, coupled with ample computing resources and expertise, makes the department ideal for both leadingedge clinicians and theoretical researchers.

Description:

The position will carry out the usual duties of a medical physicist, including oversight and design of quality assurance programs, implementation of new treatment delivery and planning techniques, quality checks of the radiation treatment planning process, assisting in the drafting, implementation, and review of policy as needed, and assisting where required with the radiation safety program. It is also expected that the successful candidate will engage in research and teach in our graduate and residency programs; they will be eligible to hold an appointment with the University of Alberta. The ideal candidate will complement the existing clinical, teaching, and research programs of the group, respected for its high quality of care, cutting edge techniques, innovative technology, and its CAMPEPaccredited graduate and residency programs (both therapy and imaging). There are opportunities to support and further develop the CCI LinacMR, to contribute to the busy and expanding Gamma Knife program, and to participate in the introduction of ETHOSbased adaptive radiotherapy. While this posting is advertised at the Senior Medical Physicist level, appointments may be made at either the Senior Medical Physicist level or Medical Physicist level based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and certification status.

Required Qualifications:

FCCPM in Radiation Oncology is required for appointment as a Senior Medical Physicist. Candidates with MCCPM or equivalent certification in Radiation Oncology who do not meet the criteria for Senior Medical Physicist may be considered for appointment as a Medical Physicist. Completion of a CAMPEPaccredited graduate program and/or residency is required; a PhD is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate clinical, academic, and teaching excellence, with strong oral and written communication skills and effective listening skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams is essential. Extensive knowledge of clinical physics and the ability to take responsibility for critical clinical decisions are required. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with scientific and medical professionals, healthcare team members, and students are expected. Candidates must be well organized, efficient, and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines. Demonstrated teaching, coaching, mentoring, and presentation skills are required, along with evidence of independent project leadership.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Candidates should demonstrate a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and effective problem solving; have proven experience leading teams and major clinical projects; contribute to the Medical Physics field through peer reviewed publications, conference presentations, or other knowledge sharing activities; and perform reliably under pressure while maintaining high clinical standards and managing competing priorities.
