As a Service Worker I, you will transport patients and equipment within the hospital, distribute supplies, clean equipment and patient care areas, and transport lab specimens, blood products, and patient charts. You will report concerns to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Grade 12 or equivalent

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification

Must be able to lift minimum of 40lbs (18kg)

Good communication skills

High degree of motivation and organizational skills

Ability to work under supervision and independently

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to interruptions

Completion of Service Worker Hemodialysis Training

Previous experience transporting patients in a healthcare setting is an asset

Salary: $20.44 - $22.31 per hour

Hours: Varies, including days, evenings, and weekends

This position is based in the Hemodialysis unit at Grey Nuns Community Hospital.Description: As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:Grade 12 or equivalent. Additional Required Qualifications:Current Basic Cardiac Life Support  Health Care Provider (BCLSHCP) certification. Ability to work in an actively paced area and adapts to frequent interruptions in activity. The AKCN program requires candidates to complete/pass Service Worker Hemodialysis Training. Candidate must be able to attend training following a successful interview. Hemodialysis Training with a Clinical Nurse Educator is held in Edmonton or Red Deer depending on classroom/instructor availability. Hemodialysis Training is an intensive 1week schedule consisting of two parts: Classroom Training followed by an exam. A passing mark of 75% is required to move onto Buddy Shifts. Buddy Shifts (1 week) are scheduled by the Unit Manager. A satisfactory performance is required during Buddy Shifts to be considered a pass. Preferred Qualifications:Previous training and/ or experience transporting patients in a health care institution is an asset.
