Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate mental health status, developmental needs, and social circumstances using clinical counselling techniques.
Deliver individual and group therapy sessions employing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and behavioural therapy.
Implement specialized interventions, including motivational interviewing, addiction counselling, PTSD care, and working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities.
Coordinate case management activities by developing personalized care plans, monitoring progress, and adjusting strategies as needed to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Facilitate crisis intervention and crisis management efforts to support clients experiencing acute mental health episodes or emergencies.
Maintain accurate medical documentation in electronic medical records (EMR) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality and data security.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams---including medical professionals, educators, and community agencies---to provide holistic care that addresses medical terminology nuances and diagnostic evaluations such as ICD-10/ICD-9 coding.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling or a related field; licensure or certification preferred.
Proven experience working with children, families, individuals with disabilities, or in hospital settings; familiarity with pediatrics, geriatrics, or special education is highly valued.
Strong knowledge of mental health counselling modalities, including psychotherapeutic techniques like applied behaviour analysis (ABA), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and counselling, if applicable.
Experience with EMR systems for medical records management; proficiency in CPT coding and ICD coding is advantageous.
Ability to perform patient care tasks such as intake assessments, diagnostic evaluations, patient assessment documentation, and data collection for clinical research purposes.
Excellent communication skills for conducting intake interviews, group therapy sessions, and providing culturally sensitive support across diverse populations.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA compliance and medical terminology relevant to behavioural health and mental health services.
