The University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) is seeking a highly motivated Social Worker II to join the Assisted Living Alberta (ALA) UAH campus Social Work team. The successful candidate will provide social work services to adult patients in the Emergency Department and other care settings as needed. This individual will work collaboratively with team members, patients, and families to ensure trauma-informed, equitable care, utilizing knowledge of health care systems, social determinants of health (SDoH), and community resources.

As a Social Worker II, you will be responsible for a range of services, including psychosocial assessment, counseling, case management, transition planning, and public awareness activities. This position requires a bachelor's degree in Social Work and registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW). Additionally, a minimum of 1-2 years' experience in acute healthcare settings and current Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) certification are required.

Preferred qualifications include a Master of Social Work degree (MSW) and knowledge of Netcare, Connect Care, and Microsoft Office. Experience with grief and loss, conflict resolution, and risk mitigation approaches is beneficial. The ideal candidate will possess excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and time management skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with colleagues, patients, and families.
