This temporary full-time RN position at Comox Valley Hospital in Courtenay, BC requires providing professional nursing care to clients as part of a multidisciplinary team. The Staff Nurse will coordinate and administer direct client care, provide direction to auxiliary personnel, and respond to emergency situations. Patient safety and quality improvement are key priorities in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.

General duty staff nurse positions require Basic Life Support, Level C, post-basic education, and up to one year of recent related experience.

Specialty unit nurse positions require specialty certification and up to two years of recent related experience.

Critical Care, Emergency, and Intensive Care nurse positions require Advanced Cardiac Life Support and specialty certification.

Qualifications:

Ability to apply the nursing process effectively in a well-organized manner.

Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to remain calm and act appropriately in stressful and emergency situations.

This position in the Emergency Department requires ER Nursing Theory Level 1 or equivalent education and experience. The successful candidate must pass the Island Health Basic Arrhythmia Challenge exam with a grade of 75% or greater.
