Description:

Umbrella Family, a trusted leader in early childhood education, is seeking a part-time Support Worker to provide essential support for children with diverse abilities and behaviors at their Lawfield Centre in Hamilton, ON. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with families, educators, and school partners to ensure each child's success in a safe and nurturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Related experience supporting children with diverse abilities and behaviors
  • Knowledge of positive behavior guidance and self-regulation support strategies
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families, educators, and school partners
  • Familiarity with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and implementing individualized strategies
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability to varying schedules and responsibilities
  • Patience, empathy, and passion for supporting children and families

    • Certifications:

  • Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Proof of up-to-date immunizations (TB, Tetanus, MMR)

    • Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to children with diverse challenges
  • Support daily routines and transitions
  • Assist with self-regulation and behavioral guidance
  • Communicate and collaborate with parents and colleagues
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Observe, document, and report on children's progress
  • Support a safe and structured learning environment
  • Assist with classroom activities and provide personalized support
  • Adapt to the needs of multiple children or classrooms
